1997 Freedom w/ HD controller
I am working on 1997 ezgo freedom with the HD solenoid and 1205 curtis controller. It will not move. I have replaced the solenoid and controller, still no go. The original solenoid was welded closed and the B+ to M- on the controller was at 27 volts. When I in stalled the new controller it did not have a terminal for the orange wire coming from the reverse m/s so i connected it to the red wire small post of the solenoid. still no go.
Any Ideas?? Or where can I get a diagram for this cart / controller with test procedures? |

Connecting it to the Red wire terminal on the solenoid probably isn't a very good idea. Attached is a schematic for an 875 series cargo and personnel carrier. It also uses a Curtis 1205 type controller and has the fourth push-on terminal like the original controller that was in the '97 TXT Freedom-HD you are working on. Was the new controller sold as a 73060-G01, or is it just an off the shelf Curtis 1205 controller? The reason I ask is because the off the shelf Curtis 1205 most likely requires a 0-5K pot for a throttle and you've got an ITS throttle system. ----------- If the replacement 1205 controller is in fact set up for ITS, does the solenoid click? If so, connect a DVM between the B- and M- terminals on the controller, Press throttle until solenoid first clicks. The voltage should be full battery pack voltage. If not, there is an open someplace in the high current loop. If so, slowly press pedal to floor. Voltage should smoothly decrease to zero. If it doesn't, the ITS might be bad, or the controller might be bad, Plus a couple other possibilities. More troubleshooting needed. Hope this helps. |

Re: 1997 Freedom w/ HD controller
Thanks for the reply. The solenoid does click and voltage between b- and m- is 37.7. As is press the pedal the voltage does not change. I did disconnect the orange wire. If the solenoid clicks does this mean the controller is for an ITS or a pot box?

The old controller is a 1205-117 w/ a ser# of 302331 and the new controller is a 1205-101 w/ ser# 12235p.054124. Im not sure what is ment by "73060-G01".

2. If pack voltage is 37.7V, that is okay (Only 85% State of Charge and should be charged, but high enough for troubleshooting) 3. Not good. Could be bad throttle input or bad controller. 4. Good. 5. Solenoid activation circuit is external to a Curtis 1205 controller. The fact that the solenoid click does say anything about the controller. I suspect the 1205 with a half speed reverse input is controller Curtis makes exclusively for EZGO. (Like the 1206, 1206MX and 1206SX) Check the label and see if there are any letters or numbers after the 1206. I may be wrong, but I suspect the replacement 1205 you received is for a cart with a Pot-Box throttle. You may have to call Curtis or EZGO to find out what it is. |

Here is a link to it: http://www.shopezgo.com/products/Con...roduct_id=1913 A 1205-101 is for a 0-5K potentiometer throttle input. It is an off the shelf controller that was used in Marathon Controller carts, and probably a few others. Here is a link to the re- manufactured 1205 controllers by FSIP (One of the BGW Site Sponsors) Please notice there are many flavors of a 1205 controller and only three of them have an ITS input. http://fsip.workxpress.com/page/link...8375e5f2&wxm=1 I'm not suggesting to get a reman controller, just using the web-page to illustrate how many different forms the Curtis 1205 comes in. |
