Tie rod ends and drop axle NEED HELP?
Being new to this hobby and not wanting to spend a ton of money, I ordered a no name 6 inch drop axle kit off of eBay. HUGE MISTAKE! I finally got the front axle mounted and spindles and shocks reattached. My problem now is that the tie rod ends are not going all the way into the new steering riser enough to touch the rubber protector...is this normal. There is about 1/2 inch or more gap between top of the riser and the rubber of the tie rod end...

The holes in the steering riser may be tapered, try putting the rod end in from the other side and see if it works any better.

Been there done that. I had the same issue with mine. I ended up having to bore the holes using one of the triangle shaped hole drill bits (I don't know the actual name of the bit). It is a tapered hole.
