Yes, it is a series motor, because that is a series 1206 controller, and a series high-amperage F/R assembly.

Would it be best to stick with series unless I am willing to replace motor?
I will be replacing controller/solenoid with one of ScottyB's packages, any advice?

DCS carts have a bad reputation. Series carts are far simpler, and easier to troubleshoot. They upgrade nicely, it just takes money. And plenty of it!
