Need to increase speed 08 txt PDS. How?
I have a 2008 txt PDS with stock controller stock motor. I put the "freedom" chip and I have 22" tires. It does 21. What are some ways to increase the speed. Other than Changing the gears. Thanks!

A bigger controller and motor is about the easiest way without changing the gears.

Re: Need to increase speed 08 txt PDS. How?
Do I have to replace the stock controller if I go with a bigger motor? And if I change the controller to say a 400amp do I need to change the motor? And will just replacing the controller increase my speed? Thanks!

On a Sepex cart such as your PDS, increasing the controller size will increase the speed. Anything above 400 amps will endanger the stock motor.

Re: Need to increase speed 08 txt PDS. How?
Just replacing the controller will get you more speed, but you will need to upgrade cables (all 10) and the solenoid to match the controllers higher Amps.
The PDS controller limits the motor RPM to about 4.4K in the Freedom Mode (Speed Chip installed) and that gives you about 18.5 MPH with 18" tires. With 22" tire, you should be getting around 23 MPH, so you may have some mechanical drag (Brake shoes rubbing, under-inflated tires, bad bearings, etc.) Or you might have excessive resistance in the High Current loop, but that would cause poor acceleration and low torque problems rather than top speed. At 21MPH, you are already pushing the braking capabilities of stock brakes, so if you up the speed any, consider upgrading the brakes also. An Alltrax DCX400PDS with a 200A solenoid and at least 4Ga cables, plus a good set of batteries will get you closer to 30MPH with 22" tires. |

Just send us your credit card and we'll send you back what you need.
Seriously, it is a never ending deal once you are not happy with 20 mph. Trust me, I know. |
