Default Question on 36v charger

I only bought this cart and charger a month or so ago, everything going good until last night when I plugged it in. The charger does not do anything when plugged into electrical outlet,(quiet no humming) and then when I plugged it into the cart it "snapped" on for a split second then off. Volt mteter bounces over and right back. Did this two or three times then I unplugged it from the wall for a second and tried it again and it charged fine. It did this tuesday night also. Any idea's what might be going on? Thanks.

Post the model/brand/year and or pic of charger. It sounds like the charger thinks the batteries are full. When you unplug and plug it resets the control board, which is why it will charge once restarted.

Sounds like there is a problem with the battery pack or the charging loop.

If possible, try your charger on a different cart or a different charger on your cart.
That will tell us if the problem is in the cart or in the charger.

I would be a good idea to clean all the connections anyways.

Here is a manual for the PW and PW+ chargers.

O.K., I plugged charger cord into the cart first and heard the charger click. Then I plugged the charger into the wall and it worked fine. I don't drive this cart very much or far, just across the yard to the barn or shop. It might go 10 minutes a week driving time! 30 second trips here and there. I always put it on the charger every friday night and until this last time worked well. Thanks.

Sounds like the charger is working normally and if the pack charges normally most of the time, chances are that the batteries and charging loop are okay.

That leaves the charger's plug and cart's receptacle. Might be loose or dirty contacts. I'd give them some TLC just to be sure.

Another bit of info on the battery pack. The tech at the dealer told me these are not the original batteries. He told me that when the cart came back they tested several batteries and these matched up the best. They are trojan T - 105. The code on the post tell me they are june 07 (Same year as cart) which means they are close to their end. I knew this when I bought it knowing new batteries aren't far off. they installed new 6g cables at the time and all connections are clean. I took a chance thinking I only need it about an hour a week tops just between buildings. Question I have is when the batteries get worse, will they need charging more or will they just give out and not run? I have been testing them frequently with a volt meter, they are all within .1 volts 12 or so hours after a charge. Thanks Johnnie B.

Cart batteries can have a catastrophic failure at any time, but are more likely to have one as they get older.

During the normal aging process, the battery's storage capacity diminishes as it gets older.
In other words, less run-time and less performance.

Since the cart batteries should be charged after each day's use, the charging schedule won't change.
