Pin is out and I have soaked. I have not tried wire brushing it. I cannot get it to budge.

You might try an impact gun if you have one. I would turn the torque down low though.

Other option is just a longer wrench or a pry bar. Leverage is your friend!

The nut should not have been tightened down completely to begin with. When it is installed it was only supposed to be tightened until it stopped and then turned back about a quarter turn and the pin inserted. If someone did crank it all the way down tight that could be part of the cause of your problem.

The splined brake hub on the EZGO is a known failure point. It is generally accepted that the proper way to install is to tighten down to a min of 100 ft lbs and then only tighten further to align for cotter pin. Some anti-sieze prior to installation will aid removal in the future.

Good luck.

I will keep soaking the nut. I have a two foot bar on it now with no luck. i doubt that this nut has ever come off since its' installation at the factory and it is rusted on.

One last option I thought of is heating it, but I am uncertain to what damage this could cause. What could be damaged by heat in this area?

Heat is certainly an option. I would try some penetrating oil like PB Blaster first. That stuff works wonders and fast. Spray some on and keep soaking it over a couple of hours and it "SHOULD" come off. No guarantee's. Heating it with a torch will help to loosen, just be careful to not heat everything up. Grease will catch fire as well as the penetrating oil so just proceed with caution. Try those, if no luck you may need to have a mechanic look at it. . Good luck

If you go the heat option, try a heat gun before a torch. Heat guns can still cause damage, but it will apply a cooler, less concentrated heat, if used in moderation.

Great idea yurtle! That would make sense to try the lower heat first.

You say it is soaking, in what?
I am not a fan of low slow heat, get that nut hot fast and get it off.

I think what he means is dousing the nut in penetrating oil frequently. That's what I meant.
