Default New to it all. Lay it on me.

Well just ventured into the world of golf cart ownership with a Medalist. Had the lift and tires on already. The guy I bought it from said that the battery cables tended to get warm after use. Well tonight it got real warm and it looks like a rewiring project. Any advice before I start the project would be appreciated!! Sorry about the picture. Haven't figured out all the tools yet.

Welcome!!That doesn't look like a "Farming-Tractor" behind your cart!Start with the basics, check the battery water-levels,voltage,and all your connections.Make sure everything is clean and tight.Hope this helps.Have a blast here,we all do!

Welcome to BGW!

Don't buy cables at Walmart or an auto parts store. That stuff is not made for the high current demands of a cart. If you are making your own, use at least 4g welding cable with solid copper lugs. I prefer to solder the lugs.

Alright I'll start there then. What about battery cables? Will up sizing them reduce the heat factor? This unit does have a 400 amp controller. It was hot enough to smoke several electrical lines, so I'm open to replace it however it needs to be.

We just passed posts it looks like. Thanks for the input. After watching the thing smoke up last night I was a bit troubled.

2g would eliminate any heat in the cables themselves.

Agreed, and judging from the looks of the JD you posted in the background, you will be needing 2g for the future upgrades. Use only 600+ strand welding cable.

Yep!

P.S.
Preview your pics before selecting them to upload. In the preview mode rotate them, then when you close it you will see the image stayed rotated and now you can upload an upright pic
