2005 club car iq top speed gone?

I have a 2005 club car precedent IQ. i just installed 4 new 12V batteries and it takes off quick but acts like it regens and slows down to a constant slow speed. I can regulate the speed with the throttle pedal but just can't keep top speed. If i back up a hill, it will kick out of gear until i let off the pedal and push it down again. Any idea where to start troubleshooting?

You need a speed sensor. Don't buy a cheap one or you'll be buying a factory one soon after.

And while you're at it, if you want to go a little faster, install a speed magnet. David sells both, just click the link in his signature above...

Thanks Jake. My sensors are OEM sensors and the magnet is made by the same manufacturer that makes the factory magnets. They're not gonna break.

Thanks everybody. I will do the speed sensor test and if I need to order a speed sensor off of David. How much faster will the cart go with magnet? I have a 6 inch lift I installed and have 12" wheels on it and it goes about 21mph already.

The magnet simply removes the speed regulation function from the controller. It'll run as fast as it possibly can with no motor braking to slow it down. You should see around 20mpH. To get more speed, you'll need more power
