Default Precedent wheel well wire chase removal

Hi,

Hoping someone can help. I bought a 2004 Electric Precedent with 205/30/12" tires and rims that were installed by previous owner. After purchase, I noticed that the right front tire was rubbing on sharp turns and discovered it is rubbing on the wire chase molding in the wheel well. I found a few posts where others have removed the plastic wire channel but could not find any real descriptive instructions as to how.

Could I cut it off with a dremel? Will this cause water and debris to be able to enter into the floor board? Should I patch it? If so, how?

Thank you!

Does it have a 1/2 inch riser block under the front spring?

Hi JJance,

No it doesn't appear to have one. I included a photo to confirm.

Double check your tire size. A 205/30/12 tire is 16.8 inches. A stock tire is 18". Something else may be wrong. If it turns out that you need the riser you can get one for 40-50 dollars. Kind of expensive for an aluminum bar.

Yes, they are 205-30-12 Golf Pro Excels. What else do you think may be wrong? Yeah that is pricey for a 1/2" piece of aluminum.

The only other thing I can think of is your castor and camber adjustments. It's been a while but I think that solved my rubbing problem or at least reduced it so it didn't bother me anymore.

Just noticed that manual is for a DS. But I believe the adjustment and checks are the same.

You definitely need a negative offset, I have 215/40-12 without a lift and no rubing issues.

I have an ET-10 or about a 3+4 offset wheel.
