Reducer wiring question

Also I swear the cart feels slower now but wouldn't expect thebreducer to impact pack voltage to the motor. Thoughts?

Yes You can wire the lights directly to the reducer 12v output and put the on/off switch on the +36v side if that is the only thing using 12v.

The reducer would not have any effect on the speed unless something else happened during the install.

Nope. Just put the reducer on the pos and neg across the whole pack and put the headlights to it. Probably just in my head or the wind was catching the cart maybe

So just a quick update. Got a 30 amp toggle that I'm gonna put between the battery pack and the toggle switch on the positive side. Gonna mount the switch to the dash and then wire the headlights direct to the reducer. That way I'll be using the on off toggle for the reducer to turn on and off the headlights. I just need to make sure there isn't a resistor or diode or anything in the existing headlight on/off pull switch that I need to integrate into the line somewhere.

Make sure the switch is rated for 30 amps at 36 volts. If it is 30 amps at 12 volts, that is only 360 watts, which would limit the switch to 10 amps at 36 volts. Also make sure the switch is rated to break a 36 volt load. Most are rated 12 vdc and 120 vac, neither of which is as severe of an application as 36 vdc.

Try the marine switches you may find at Overtons or at the nearest farm store. They might be tough enough.
