48v 2001 club car wont move but soleniod clicks
the cart set up for a while and once i got the batteries charged it will click but wont move. i have 50 volts at the solenoid both side and also 50 volts on all 4 wires to the motor.
i replaced to acc. pedal because the ohms were at 25k and now it starts at 5k and goes down to 1.5k any suggestions on where to start or how to test? |

You said the car was sitting for a while so how old are the batteries and are they ok? also, does your car have a rocker f/r switch or a lever f/r switch down by your leg?

The batteries are good however I did use 6 optima batteries and wired them in series and parallel to get the 48v the switch is a lever switch I think. It has the 3 micro switch on top.

Re: 48v 2001 club car wont move but soleniod clicks
Not sure what you mean by wired in series and Parallel? Unless you are looking for one big 8V battery should always be wired in series and any other way can damage controller.
If your solenoid has a resistor across the two large posts then you will have to remove the resistor from one post to check the true voltage. The resistor allows voltage to flow by the solenoid to keep the caps powered up in the controller so you will read voltage on both sides with it connected. Even if the solenoid is clicking it still could be bad. Best way to test it is VM on ohms and when solenoid clicks measure across 2 posts. Should read between 0 and 0.5. Any higher resistance and you are looking at worn contacts inside. |

OK I will try that out and see what I get. The batteries are 12v so I used 4 in series so i have 48v and 2 added in parallel so I still have 48v but with 6 batteries instead of 4 thanks for the fast response.

If I were you I would just get a new set of batteries for starters since it looks like your going to need them anyway and then troubleshoot the other issue. Your asking for trouble going down that road

I understand that and I do plan to do that but don't want to spend the cash until I know it works again. I had the other batteries laying around the house.

Is this what you mean by (6) 12v batteries wired in both series and parallel???
