XCT settings
I have been playing with my settings on my XCT, and I wanted to ask y'alls opinion on the best settings to get more torque on the top end. Basically I am trying to hold speed going up hills. I will probably end up upgrading the motor, but I just want to get the most I can until I do.
I am running a stock motor, XCT 400amp, and 22" tires. Typically carrying around 600lb of weight. |

Re: XCT settings
The motor is making all the power it can at wide open throttle as long as the XCT is set to full amperage. 22" tires reduce motor power by about 20%. Assuming your batteries are very good, use the Admiral A4 motor with the A4T mapp for best results.

Re: XCT settings
I have been looking at the Admiral motors, but with Christmas it will be Spring before I can swing a motor. I was just wondering if there was anything that could be done with the torque curve to help torque on the top end. My batteries are about a year and a half old, but they are way more happier with my new DPI charger.

I live right down the street from you. Don't be afraid to call me or come stop by. Posting messages at 10 AM while I'm working doesn't usually yield fast results from me. To answer your question though, Scottyb is correct about the Admiral A4 motor. It'll do exactly what you want it to do.

Re: XCT settings
Here's something you might try until you get your new motor. Try disabling turbo. Turbo works by weakening the field to produce more speed. More speed equals less torque. This is fine unless you're going uphill. Try this, when you're going uphill and you take your foot off the throttle does your cart seem to speed up a little. If so disabling turbo will help. But if you got turbo already disabled nevermind.

Re: XCT settings
The old DCX had a big handicap when it came to "turbo" and speed control since it did not use the speed sensor to control the motor RPM loop.
The XCT uses the speed sensor and it has a much more intelligent Turbo function that works both to generate more torque at low rpm and greater speed as long as the motor is responding with the correct feedback. I would enable the "Turbo" function and use that new "Uni-map1" motor map Scottyb talked about in an earlier post. |
