Charge level sensing
Question about charging system, in particular charge level indicator circuit.
I have an '05 club car villager 8. 48 volts, series motor system; 700A controller, 500A contact, T875 batteries, 1/0 welding cable throughout. Still running with club car OBC (Negative battery pack lead passes through OBC on copper stud) and using PowerDrive charger for cart. Charger starts, delays, restarts and charges as it should. Times out as it should after 16 hrs. But it doesn't taper correctly as it approaches completion in that it never goes lower than 8A. Battery pack is at 50.8 volts at rest 12 hours after charging. All batteries are at 8.6v +/- .1 All cells test at high end of good with hydrometer. Problem: charge indicator is not accurate. The indicator will go lower as cart is run, but does not reset after charging. If I reset the OBC, it resets the indicator. Same behavior. I have also noticed that the warning light does not come on when plugging in, unplugging during charge, whatever circumstance. I cant find any loose connections, everything is clean and tight. Have any of you seen this charge sensing portion of an OBC go bad without other symptoms or problems? Think of anything else I need to check? Thanks |
