Re: Replaced the batteries, now the radio doesn't work! Please help!
I can appreciate your views, but........
If I'm dealing with someone else's equipment, and knowing people like to customize their carts, I'm going to write down any non-factory wire and when the new batteries are installed, I'm going to put them back. I am going to thoroughly test the cart after the installation. Just good business sense. And I would note it on the customer's receipt to protect the warranty. If (because of the warranty) I decide to not hook up the wires, I'm going to tag them, and bring them to the Customer's attention. I am certainly not an expert, but, I've been dealing with the Public for over 35 years and I know if you don't treat them this way, they'll go where the Dealer does. Doing it right really doesn't take that much more time or expense. JMHO..... |

Maybe you should open up a golf cart shop, you seem to be a humble opinion on most of the repairs.

Re: Replaced the batteries, now the radio doesn't work! Please help!
Ok, let me give you a scenario......
Customer cart comes into the shop for new batteries. they have lights, horn, radio, underbody lights.... standard stuff. You make a "map" and tag wires so you know where they go when you install the batteries. you pull the batteries, notice the trays have acid on them so you push the car out for cleaning. Clean it up, move on to another job to allow the trays to dry. come back to it in 30 minutes and coat the trays with underbody spray to protect the metal and then move on to another job. Come back in another 30 minutes and push the cart back in to install the batteries. Get all the batteries in and wiring hooked up to begin testing..... All the while, since you are the only mechanic on staff every time there is a customer at the door or on the phone with a tech question, you are being interupted...... Can you see how it would be quite easy to make a SIMPLE mistake? I mean should we take the tech out and put him in front of a firing squad for forgetting to hook up a wire or hooking it up in the wrong place? Get real... accidents happen and I am sure if they had called the dealer, he would have made it right for them, luckily enough for them in this case, they had people like Scotty and I that are willing to take the time to help investigate the problem and correct it for them with no cost (for fuel or whatever) to them...... |

Let me remind this is why we work on golf carts and not the space shuttles. After the day is done, it's just a golf cart
Okay , relax! |
