Windshield Hinge Replacement
Has anyone ever used this replacement hinge on their windshield? I am thinking about getting the H-Frame, 6ft, product number 1106578-6.

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
Yeah.....looks like a pretty cool product. My windshield for my hunting cart....actually looks like it's been thru the woods for the last 5 years. That's because it has. I'm really surprised that it's held up as well as it has for the abuse it's taken. Not that I like to beat my equipment, but when it's cold out....and I'm cold...and tired....well....stuff just happens.

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
Ok so I got the replacement hinge in and cut it to length, easy enough, product was great, high quality, BUT!! it didn't work. The reason is because the factory hinge was put on with some epoxy or industrial glue and I cannot remove the old hinge frame, which makes it to thick for the new hinge. I am going to keep working on this to see if I can come up with a solution. I am open to any ideas. I will post pics if needed.

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
Can you flip the pieces? Put new hinge on the other ends.

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
If it's an epoxy there's not a good solution, but solvents may "melt" it if it's not an epoxy.

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
@DOOmsman- no it cannot be flipped, the top piece has a 90 degree bend at the top and the bottom piece is cut to the shape of the front of the cart.
@yurtle- I did think of that and came up with the same conclusion as you, since Im not sure of what type of adhesive was used and I am trying to salvage it. @Nuke- I didn't think of cutting and shortening it, I guess that will be my next solution, I will post my results and hopefully if it works some pics. Thanks for all the input guys. |

Re: Windshield Hinge Replacement
If you end up cutting it (good idea), use a fine tooth blade for plastic, slow speed, and make sure you always cut "INTO" the plastic. What I mean is start the cut from both sides first, then join the cuts from either side. This will prevent a "blow out", which is something plastics like to do.
