Default Hypothetical - 48 volts through 36 series system

Just hypothetical here... What would happen if a short term test of hooking another 12 volt to a stock EZGo series 36 volt cart with all stock components were to occur? Would it fry everything? My cart still has everything stock except heavier 4 gauge cabling but controller, switch, and everything else is stock. So this would be total if 48 volts right and increase in Amps in some increment as well. Will stock components handle this for brief test?

The stock controller will release its supply of magic smoke at that voltage.

I did this with my marathon (remove 6v batts, install 8v batts, nothing else except a charger). It worked for a month or two, then it lost all power, still drove, still hit top speed (given a mile to get there), but wouldnt climb a 1 inch sidewalk. I had a used alltrax around for when the enevitable happened.

there is a thread around there somewhere that has the instructions to have a TEMPORARY MOMENTARY BOOST, but it bypasses all the electronics and goes straight to the motor.....you would have to SEARCH of it.....but its out there.

oh crap.....I had to go find it......its exactly what you are talking about....adding a temporary 12v BOOST

No it's not for a go fast need.. But that's intriguing. I will be in north central Florida at a competition this weekend. I anticipate having to drive lots and I mean lots of distance to and from areas without having access to power to charge cart. This is on very rural property on about 2000+ acres of flatt as a flitter land and we may have to travel from end to end a couple times. My fear is that my pack may be drawn down and I was thinking I could for emergency use a long set of leads to tap into my 12 volt accessory deep cycle battery. I'm just fearfull of being stuck with low juice at the end of each day. Maybe what I could do is bypass 2 of the batteries and instead jump to the accessory 12 volt for this temporary voltage to limp in. I will be able to charge overnight but it's all day chugging down sandy roads in planted pines that worries me. From one competition area to another that we will travel because of how they route us will be over 2 miles one way.

Continued from above... So the test would be to try this in my drive and street before we go down there this weekend. But sounds like a bad idea

only 2 miles??? you should be able to do that standing on your head MANY times.....Just how much range do you think your cart has in it?
