I retract my above statement about the diode. It has conductivity in both directions. I thought that was the proper way to test it

I did not rip out the entire wire harness, I just cut out the plastic 4 prong connector from the throttle box and spliced them together (red, black, green, white wires)

I'm assuming the connector shorted in the first place because I had the diode backwards-did I take out the new solenoid with it? But why would the micro switch in the throttle box go? Too much power going to it?

I've tried to find a good wiring diagram but they all look different than mine. And when I bought this different controller, The shop I got it from said just move the cable from the f&r switch that is supposed to go to the A2 to the B+ on the controller. Then I read a thread on this forum that said just remove that cable.
If you look on the diagram scottyb posted, A2 goes from the motor to the C position on the F/R switch and from there (another wire) to A2 on the controller. If the new controller doesn't have an A2 position then remove the wire that was previously attached between A2 on the controller and C on the F/R switch. The wire from A2 on the motor goes directly to C on the F/R switch and no where else. On my cart position C is six o clock (bottom) on the F/R switch. There should be two wires connected to B+ on the controller. One goes to the solenoid and the other to Position A on the F/R switch. On my cart position A is 12 o'clock.

You may have other things wrong also. Hope this isn't confusing.

I took it to the ezgo shop today.... We replaced the diode, throttle box micro switch, f&r board....still no go. We tested everything and it still won't go. They're stumped and said, we don't know what it is. I did look at ITS and noticed a crack. They had one but wanted $189.00 for it. Has anyone had an issue with theirs?

Then you didn't test everything.
