Default Tow haul switch up in flames

My bosses used the TXT to deliver ice cream for employees appreciation day. Had a freezer on a small trailer I pull and as a joke, as they pulled away I jokingly asked if they wanted rental coverage and we all laughed as they drove away. I was gone when they returned but I was told they could smell it before they could see it. When they got off and lifted the seat it was literally flaming. Looks like it damaged the charging port and melted a lot of wiring and of course the tow haul switch is melted.

Good news is I was told the requisition for repair will be approved no questions asked.

Tow run switch is low current. I'd say maybe the big solenoid terminal got hot and melted the adjacent wiring which caused fire under the controller cover.

That is a f&r switch, not a tow-run (haul) switch.

ScottyB has a heavy duty f&r switch for good price.

it appears that the motor was maxed out (pulling more amps than designed for) dye to the added load. the weak link was the high current cables, and their connection to the F&R switch, which is where the build up of heat was, based on your pictures.

Its a 2 speed switch from an EMP kit. Its just a Club car F/R switch. Tow mode/speed mode switch.

Replace the switch and repair or replace the cables.
Another alternative would be to go to a reversing contactor for the 2 speed switching.... wondering now if they were towing in hi-speed mode?
