The "squishy" tires may also be keeping the top speed down.

In earlier posts you mentioned mentioned something about wanting to go up one step in tire size and that going faster wasn't needed.

On stock tires (about 18" tall - about 22 PSI max inflation) you will get a bit over 20 MPH with a DCX400 and at 36V battery pack.
If you install 20" normal pressure tires, the speed will increase by about 10% and the torque will decrease by about 10%.
If you install 20" low pressure tires, the speed increase will be less and the torque decrease will be greater.
