Default Upgrade or start over????

Hello. I have a 1996 EZGO TXT Series 36V cart. It's in ok condition...but the batteries are shot...I can only get about 3 miles from a full charge. I am trying to decide if I should put another $700 in batteries in it (I would also like to put a slight lift on it, and bigger tires) or just sell it "as is" and get a newer cart.

I found this 48V RXV but the difference in price between it any my TXT is probably $2500. http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/rvs/4473156349.html

We only use the cart to drive around the neighborhood. We live in the panhandle of Florida where it is absolutely flat.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas.....Keep my TXT and replace batteries, tires, and lift? Or......start over with the RXV?

Thank you

Is three miles adequate for your needs? If so, you can drive them until they're really dead.

Buying a newer cart doesn't guarantee that the batteries are any less "shot" unless you are buying it from a dealer and it has new batteries.

I don't have a lot of experience buying carts but I would rather pay $800 for my cart knowing it needs new batteries over paying $2500 and being told it has new batteries only to find out the PO didn't care for those new batteries and they are just as bad as batteries that are 5 years old.

I'm partial to series carts. Read my sig. I spent a TON of money on mine, but got nine years out of the batts, which were not well maintained. Just sayin...

By some new component and run it on 48v

You'll get more speed and torque - it will be like a new cart.

well if you are the type of person that would get some enjoyment out of doing the mods....I say keep the TXT and do the mods yourself. lift it, get the bigger tires/wheels, bigger controller, bigger cables, solenoid, f&r.....and motor......AND go to 48v. you will never turn back!!
