Should the solenoid click w/key
Hello, I have a 2001 36 v, ezgo not sure of the model, very basic, no tow switch or breaking features. First ride of the year on a partial charge got about a mile & quit. Now after a full charge it worked fine on a test run however I hear a click from the solenoid ( in forward or reverse ) when I turn the key on. I don't recall it doing this last year. Should the solenoid click when turning the key ?

Re: Should the solenoid click w/key
Thank you, I just went out and checked the pedal, it seems to move free, I looked underneath and see what looks like a metal box section in the frame with 2 wires coming out, would that be where the micro s is located .

When the pedal is at rest, the switch lever should be resting on the end of the plunger activating the switch so the contacts are open. When the plunger moves, the lever drops off and the switch closes and connects voltage from the key switch which tells the solenoid to energize. As the plunger travels a short distance into the ITS the cart then begins to move. This area is where the trouble should be. I will check back in the morning if you need any more info or someone else may join in. |

Basic Ezgo electric golf cart wiring and manuals in stickies is where the pedal box diagram is located.

Re: Should the solenoid click w/key
Thank you for taking the time to help me, Steering me in the right direction is greatly appreciated. I will open the floor up this weekend. I looked up micro switches in a cart catalog I got in the mail awhile back an they are not expensive, if i'm lucky this will be a cheap fix.

Re: Should the solenoid click w/key
Check the MS with a meter set for continuity or ohms. It might appear to work by clicking, but the guts could be bad. Make sure the switch is open when the pedal is up.

Re: Should the solenoid click w/key
You don't even have to open the throttle box to test. Just unplug the MOLEX plug and check continuity.
Wiring diagrams are your friend. |
