Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
I am wanting to install 6 LEDS to my Yamaha G8 gas. I have lights, switch and wire on it's way. They are 3/4" round lights. Do I need a resistor for the lights? Don't feel like blowing them the first day.

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
I used the same lights on my EZ gas with no issues.
I wired the without any resistor. Check with a power source before you wire up, On mine the black wire was hot and white was ground. |

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
If its a 12 volt cart and the lights are 12 volt no problem and no resistor is required.

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
Don't know anything about the G8 carts but the G9'S are finicky with the wiring. I would make a harness if they don't come with one.just my 2Cents. would not try to just tye into the wiring power and ground directly to the battery and a switched ignition source for the lights relay

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
I just ran a fused hot wire off battery to switch to lights. ground to roof struts, as I put the lights in the roof, works fine.
The LED's have to have a good ground!! |

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
Be sure and check your voltage with the motor reved. I blew my light because of over voltage from the regulator. Mine was spitting out 17 volts had to adjust back down to 13.5 V.

Re: Question about hooking up LED lights to a gas cart
Resistor on leds is often for turn signal lights, you need the power to go through to make the old style flasher units work. You can get a new electronic one so you don't waste power through a resistor. The resistor was hooked across the light to bleed current off (waste it) to show a load to the flasher so it would heat up and flash.
