2007 G29 Head Lights Pulsing
Hi Guys!!
So I just bought this cart about a month ago and its a great cart except one weird thing. My head lights "pulse." Meaning they get bright and dim multiple times per second when driving. But only when my foot is on the gas. When I take my foot off the gas, they just go "dim" and do not pulse back to bright. And when I say dim, its not dark, just dimmer then when they are bright. I'm guessing there is something in the battery charging system that is switching the "charge" on and off quickly as I'm driving, like its bouncing between charge 14 volts and battery 12 volts. Does anyone get what I'm saying? And does anything jump right out to you as to what may be wrong? As in, is this a common thing to happen to one part that's a simple fix? Thanks for your help!! =] |

Re: 2007 G29 Head Lights Pulsing
It's the normal on a Yamaha, and it's the regulator doing it, just as you described. A new regulator will do the same thing. LEDs typically have their own regulator in them, and won't pulse, since most aren't "natively 12v".

So if I go the LED route they will most likely stop pulsing? I've seen the kits for the LED lights, but I do a lot of night driving around town, will they be as bright as the Halogens I have now? |

I don't know what LEDs to suggest, as I don't know what you have now. And I find that about 75% of the people who tell me they have factory lights, don't.

A simple modification to the stock system will make the pulsing go away. The cause is as stated, its just how Yamaha charges the battery.

I kinda need to I'm thinking if for when I put a radio in this thing. Don't know how it would sound with the voltage fluctuating like that. |

Re: 2007 G29 Head Lights Pulsing
Well just as I thought, I think this voltage pulse is messing with my newly installed stereo. All is brand new, deck, wireing and speakers. Sounds perfect when the cart is not running, but driving down the road, it goes muffled then clear then muffled then clear.....
Any ideas on how to fix this besides running a separate battery not connected to the charging system? Thanks!! |
