Default Alignment '86 G1

I'm having a moment with this **** thing and I'm far from intelligent enough to figure this out...hence why I came here.

I installed the Honda 400ex shocks on the rear and fabbed up the front to accept the 4" however now my front wheels are cambered in on the top. It's not a lot but enough that I think it will wear unevenly. I've adjusted the tie rods but I think (or believe from what I read and can understand) is more for toe in and out.

I'm missing something here and I can't figure it out. I also have a base level knowledge when it comes to these things but I've learned a lot on here and on Golf Carts Modified on the FB.

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Alignment '86 G1

I tried 3 different shock types on my G1, camber issues with all of them. In my research I learned that the single short a arm design is not tolerant of soft coil overs with lots if travel. In fact, that front end design is really only good for about 2" of travel at the spindle before camber becomes an issue.

Most lift kits recommend using the stock G1 shocks because of the stiff spring and small amount of travel. I'd recommend stock shocks as well for the same reasons. More travel, in this case, is not ideal and could be dangerous at higher speeds.

I could never get the single a arm suspension to do what I wanted.....so I switched to a double wishbone atv suspension. Handles and steers much much better.
