Default Lockman1's DS idle setup?

I read a thread where Lockman1 mentioned a mod where a wire could be removed from one of the micro-switches along with idle adjustment on the carb that would allow the cart idle.

I am interested in performing this mod and would like more information. I'm assuming the key switch kills the engine? How is the engine started? Any help is appreciated.

It's really simple! and It's not my idea... Tom @ CPP told me about it!

(Note: I don't know if this works for PRE-1992 DS Club Cars!)

Put your cart in maintenance mode, chock the wheels... and the key off!

In the engine compartment, There is a black plastic box, just below the drivers seat!

Remove the one hex screw, and then the cover for the box,
You'll see the voltage regulator, solenoid, two micro switches, a single 10 amp fuse, and a bunch of wires!

Go to the micro switches... wipe the dirt off of the micro switch wires (without disconnecting them)

There should be only one solid black wire...
(I think it's on the bottom micro switch)

Disconnect the solid black wire ONLY! (pedal kill circuit)
and set the wire off to the side, (inside the box) and reinstall the cover!

You are now ready to adjust your idle!

Again... with the cart in maintenance mode, and the wheels chocked,
Turn the key on, push the "GO" pedal to start it...
and adjust your idle up just high enough so the drive belt is just about ready to turn
(if the drive belt turns too much, the cart will "creep" while idling!)

Turn the key off to shut it down, set the brake,
take the cart out of maintenance mode, and remove the wheel chocks.

Test drive (start and stop) to make sure it won't stall or creep... and adjust the idle if needed!

Your cart will now start with the pedal... idle... and shut off with the key!

Thumbs up re: Lockman1's DS idle setup?

Sweet! I just did this mod. I had to adjust the idle down a bit. Thank you for sharing Don!

No Problem!

I only did it because I have brake lights with only one switch rather then two!
And they shut off with the ignition switch also!
(I didn't want to kill my battery when leaving the key on, while having a few beers at the many campsites I stop at!)

Happy carting my friend!

I bumped this thread, because it seems a few people are looking to make their carts idle,
And, rather then replying to those threads, and posting a link, I'll just bump it!

I guess I'm just lazy!

Another note on this:

I added the 200 rpm drive clutch spring from CPP and it really helps with this mod. The oem spring wants to engage at a very low RPM so it's difficult to adjust the idle plus the engine wants to stumble on accel. With the new spring, I could adjust the idle up a bit and it eliminated the accel stumble.

FYI!
