what would you pay?
the local golf course has a 92 cc gas cart. the green's keeper said it needed valves and rings. i am guessing this would be a 4 cycle engine.
would i be right to assume that it is a flat head? what would the cost be for replacing the valves and new rings? or would you do a complete over haul? what would you offer the golf course for the cart the way it sets? i have no pictures of the cart, but am sure it has had some hard use. i am looking for one for deer hunting son and granddaughters to lift and camo. thanks for any input to this thread. fishneb |

Does the cart start and drive ? If so, perhaps give it a test drive and report back with your findings as to whether it performs reasonably, smokes and puffs etc. Replacing the rings and doing a valve grind is not particularly difficult but unless you get the cart super cheap the cost of the work can quickly rise to the point of buying a reasonable machine that runs nicely. You might also want to check the Ebay listings to give yourself an idea of current price trends. Chris. |

Re: what would you pay?
This is how I gauge projects, start with a list:
cart..............................$500 Engine R&R...................$_______ lift..............................$_______ wheels/tires.................$_______ Lights, racks................$_______ Anything else...............$_______ Labor if you can't do it...$_______ Total..........................$_______ (Don't forget downtime envolved for repairs verses buy and drive option) Local cart already set up.....$___________ 92 is 17ish years old. Check the front suspension for wear, steering gearbox for slop, bent springs or frame..........$500.00 and do the work yourself, we can help you through it. |

Re: what would you pay?
A '92 with a bad motor that isn't made anymore? Offer to haul it off for them, if that doesn't work maybe offer a few hundred? Up to you on what you want to spend on it...
