G16 battery issue - cart quits
I have a G16 cart that suddenly cuts out and dies. The lights go dead too. Then a few seconds later, everything is fine. It just started to do this the past two days. I am thinking it may be battery related. The terminals are clean and tight. Could it be the plates in the battery? BTW, this site is great for obtaining info. Thanks everyone.

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
I have not torn into my cart yet but it sounds like a bad ground. From your battery follow your negative cable and check that and any other ground you can find, I would bet one of them is loose or badly corroded.

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
At first I was thinking ground too, but the only thing
is my lights are connected directly to the battery, not the body ground. So, I checked and cleaned the battery post, but still have the issue. Seems odd when everything quits at the same time. |

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
Can you put a voltmeter on the battery, put the cart in neutral (or jack it up) and run the car ? When it dies, what is the battery voltage reading?

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Disconnect the lights completely from the battery (pos and neg) and see if you still have the same problem.

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
Yes directly connected to the battery. The wire harness is made to be connected that and I believe the instructions also recommended that. Nothing wrong connecting lights that way.

Re: G16 battery issue - cart quits
I would shake the battery as well you may have been right about a broken plate connector.
All so is it a fuse in the cart or a circuit breaker that resets it self after a vibration induced short. This is strange. |
