The pullers are a must have in my opinion, you may be able to do it with the right size/threaded bolt and a deep well socket or a peice of round bar stock cut to the right length. The later clutches use a 3/4" fine thread bolt, not sure of the pitch of the threads right off but it's standard, not some weird thread. I think that's the same bolt size as on your clutch, i'm just not 100% positive about it.

Heres some photos of my clutch. The aft outer sleeve is stuck. Any ideas on how to free it up? I've sprayed some Pblaster on it and thought I'd let it soak in while I try to find a puller or a bolt that fits in the hole. Anyone ever try a slide hammer to get these off? Hope my photos attached OK? Thanks! George

The entire unit comes off as one piece, including the fixed shieve. Don't use a slide hammer unless you want to buy a new, $150 fixed shieve. Get or make a puller.......

Guess I have to get a puller! Are these clutches usually on really tight? I was thinking of maybe just trying to find a piece of allthread (with a nut welded on so I can turn it") if I can find a piece the right size. All the golf course maintainence shops are closed for the day and buying a puller will take a few days as well. There's always my local ace hardware. It would be great to get this thing off today! Thanks! George

You need the correct threaded bolt, then a piece of steel rod of the correct length and demension. The bolt will thread into the clutch, pushing against the rod to "pull" the assembly off. Not hard to DYI, just need the right stuff......

3/4 ? thread buy both and return the one thats wrong

Try an extension I have seen a lot of ways to pull them, spray some penetration oil NOT WD 40
in the opening and grease the threads of the bolt, tighten it and tap the bolt head wait a bit and tighten and tap go slow and it will come off.

The clutch in the pic is shifted out we will talk when you get it off.

I guarantee it's an 18 pitch, can't remember if it's 3/4 or 9/16. My guess is 3/4. Buy grade 8.
