Default Not Running after rebuild

I have a 91 Ezgo with a 3pg motor. I rebuilt the top end and replaced anything that the fuel will touch in route to the motor. New fuel pick up, new lines, new pump, new carb, new crank seals. I had it running till a backfire caused the flywheel side seal to blow out. I fixed the seal and now when I try to start it it won't even sputter. I have a spark and now fuel is running out my intake side of the carb when I let off the gas. If I put my hand over the carb intake I can feel pull and it is pushing air out the exhaust. I did check the ground, made sure all metal is clean and getting a good connection (which seemed to make it crank a little better). I had some trouble with the rings when I put it back together, so I am thinking of pulling it apart and checking everything else to make sure it ok including replacing the seal on the clutch side again. Any other ideas that I might be overlooking? Sorry if you tried to help in another post, I wasn't giving the whole story so now you have all the info.
Thanks,
Scott

Not being an EZ go man I have to ask, reed valve?
a back fire that pops the seal may very well have screwed up a reed valve.

Check your flywheel key. I have had briggs racing engines do the exact same thing and sheer a key, throw the timing off and motor won't run

I did pull the flywheel when I did the seal, the rest doesn't seem like English to me. Did I put it on wrong? and how can I tell?
Thanks,
Scott

when you pulled of the flywheel...was there a little metal key that fits into a slot on the shaft?

did you put it back in?

if its broken or missing, that would be a problem.

will it start if you pour a tablespoon of fuel into the carb throat?

After trying everything I pulled the motor again. After pulling it all apart the bottom ring was compressed all the way to the piston, no ring movement at all. I ordered a new piston and ring set and hope it fits better than the first. My other question is when I put it all together should I use anything to aid the gaskets in sealing? I hope to get this cart running next week after sitting for along time in the garage.

Good news! I pulled the engine again and replaced the piston and clutch side seal. Replaced everything and it fired right up! I did have one problem, the new carb I put on had gas running out of it when the air intake wasn't hooked up. I put the old carb on and it worked fine so I guess I will just use this for awhile. I cleaned it out real good so I should be fine I was just wondering why gas would flow out of a carb. Thanks for all the help getting her running again!

Float might have got bumped in shipping and got stuck, open. Take the fuel bowl off and check it.
