Carryall I, Not running of choke
I have a 96 Carryall I believe is a 286CC 4-Stroke. It is OHV. I have 2 identical carts. I got them both, and neither were running. I got one running. Cleaned the carb, fresh gas, new air filter, etc. The 2nd cart is being a bit more stubborn. I did all the things previously stated (Cleaned the carb 5 times now! Believe me, it's clean), and it still wont run right. I even tried the carb that worked on the other cart on it to no avail. The cart will only run with the choke slightly engaged, which makes me think air leak? Am I missing something here? Idle air screw is adjusted at 1 turn, per factory specs. I don't think it would be the valves? Any other ideas? Will idle without choke, but nothing else. Main jet is definitely clear.
Appreciate the help! -Stlouissux9119 |

Re: Carryall I, Not running of choke
In most cases with CC's, an air leak would either be from an air box cover that's not clipped correctly, or a crack in the flexible air intake tube.
(it's critical that CC Kawasaki engines have the proper air/fuel mixture!) The easiest way to diagnose that is, spray carb cleaner on the intake (air box, intake tube, and carb) while it's running, and see if the RPM's change... if they do, you have a leak in your intake system, if not, the problem is elsewhere! |

Re: Carryall I, Not running of choke
Is it normal to see the filter through the bottom? I'm pretty sure the leak is I'm the air box that's what I was thinking too. Is there a trick to clipping it?

Re: Carryall I, Not running of choke
The clipping of air box cover is pretty simple... hooks in the back, clips on the front,
if it's not hooked correctly in the back... it's easily noticeable! I don't know about being able to see the air filter from underneath on your 96, but, that doesn't sound right. Most of the slightly newer DS's and Carryall's have a plastic intake snorkel that runs from the bottom of the air box to up under the drivers side wheel well. I have a pic, but I can't post it until tomorrow! Hopefully someone else will beat me to it, and post one! |
