86 Marathon Shock questions
Does anyone know of any coil over shocks that will fit the FRONT end of a 86 Marathon. Or any coil over shocks that are stud mount on each end. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: 86 Marathon Shock questions
Kind of weird, but we have had a few things in common with our carts. I'm in need of some kind of shock replacement too. I put the economy lift on today and discovered mine pretty much do nothing. So let me know if you find some replacements. I need front and rear. Are you doing something different? Or just replacing your originals?

Re: 86 Marathon Shock questions
The Fronts I could go with stock size, but I would really like to go with a coil over shock if I can find one. The rear I bought a set of coil overs off of a KFX400/Z400. The measured about 5.5 inches longer than stock and with my 6" lift, I will not have to use the shock extensions on the rear.
I had a 4" economy lift on my cart, but decided to totally rebuild my cart and go with 6" lift. So instead of using a lift I built a custom new front axle with 6" lift in it which would allow me to use my stock shocks. The on the rear, I build a new lift similar to the economy lift, minus the shock extensions. You can follow my progress here in another section of this forum. Is your cart lifted? If it is you can use monroe 31100 & 31125 shocks. I used those on my 79 marathon w/a 5" lift.

Re: 86 Marathon Shock questions
Yes it is lifted via a custom self made axle 6" lift. However it is still a work in progress so I can change the shock setup if needed. I basically made a 6" drop axle with out the leaf spring and shock extensions. So at this time I can still use a standard shock, but l am not apposed to using a longer shock and making new mounts either. Thank you for the shock #'s, I will definitely check them out.

The 31100 does not come up anywhere or on Monroe's website? Is this the correct #? The other # is good, and I like the price. |

Re: 86 Marathon Shock questions
Just a heads up. I just bought the 31125 (fronts) off eBay for $16/ea. shipped this morning. RockAuto charges to much for shipping IMO

Re: 86 Marathon Shock questions
I'm having trouble finding the Monroe's in stock around town. They do cross over to a Gabriel that I can get locally. Anyone have any experience with Gabriel shocks?
