Burning up controllers
I have a 1999 ez-go txt series cart ,5 years ago I installed the largest motor I could without having to replace the stock controller and everything was fine till about a month ago when it died .After doing all of the tests I found my stock controller suddenly gave out but just to make sure before spending money on the new one I installed a stock controller out of my buddies cart "same model and year "and it ran fine ,till last weekend and same thing happened it gave out also after 2 rounds of golf .The only thing I have done differently in the last couple of months is install new 4 gauge cables between the batteries .Does anyone know what could possibly be causing me to go through controllers like that ,I want to buy the upgraded Alltrax controller "along with the stock one I have to buy for my buddies cart now" but I am now pretty leary about installing it now .Please help

Re: Burning up controllers
You didn't say you put a bigger motor in it in the PM you sent me? That could be your problem right there...... After 5 yrs of use the motor is drawing a little more juice than it used to and the batteries are 5 yrs older So there is your possible low voltage situation..... What size and age are the cables?
Load test the batteries.... 2 rounds of golf is alot of use too...... Like I said a low voltage situation is the culprit. Good Luck |

Re: Burning up controllers
The cables going to the controller and motor are the stock 6 gauge .I was going to replce them with the 4 gauge when I did the upgraded controller but sounds like I blew that one .I will do a load test on the batteries on Wednesday and see what gives .So I guess the low voltage situation would explain why I seem to have less power and longevity on a charge the last year .
