Re: yamaha g1
Have you tried to fire it up yet? What does it do (or not do)?

Re: yamaha g1
It turns over and im sure it has compression, thats about as far as i got today, I couldnt get it to start with starting fluid, i checked and it does have spark, Tommorow im going to pull the carb and clean it and possibly drain the tank, what oil ratio should i use? Injection is diconnected.

Re: yamaha g1
DON'T USE STARTING FLUID!
I know E-Z-GO's Robin _PG ratio is one ounce of oil per one gallon of gas, but I don't know about Yamaha's G1 engine. It's probably close to that. |

Re: yamaha g1
Why no starting fluid? As long as its not running on just starting fluid it should be fine.

Re: yamaha g1
OK, go ahead and keep pumping the starting fluid into the two-stroke engine and see what happens. I forgot that I don't know anything.

Re: yamaha g1
It's still running without oil.
I'm not 100% sure what it does to the cylinder walls, but I've always been strictly advised to never, ever use starting fluid in two-stroke engines. Probably because normally, the gas/oil mixture enters the bottom end and provides the lubrication before entering the top end for ignition. When using starting fluid, no oil is lubricating the bottom end. |

Re: yamaha g1
Got it running i cleaned out the carb and but i couldnt get the gas tank off to drain it? Then after running it for a bit i couldn't get it to start again. It has close to 90psi in forward and about 75-80psi in reverse compresion. What holds the tank on? Also can the clutches be rebuilt it barely gets up a hill and slowly moves on flat terrain.

Re: yamaha g1
No No is actually right for once. Carb cleaner is a better alternative to starting fluid on 2 strokes. The starting fluid will quickly purge any trace of oil in a 2 stroke.
