If these are aftermarket lights, hook them directly to the battery with a switch. Also, be sure they grounded directly to the battery neg post and not to the frame somewhere.

Bdboy take Sprids advise, and use an inline fuse
How did you wire them up? Did you splice into a hot?

i rewired them there grounded to the battery there is a fuse.that took care of the problem with the engine cutting out,but now it will only run with the choke pulled about 1/2. and then it runs like crap.i think the carb needs cleaned, but not sure if the govenor has something to do with it cause i adjusted it to try to get a little more power.i also have a older 3 wheeled cushman with a 340 snowmobile motor.the clutch cover came off . will that hurt anything? snowmobiles clutches are open

A fuel system clean out can't hurt. Drain the tank, replace the fuel filter and clean the carb if your going to do it. Can't help you on the snowmobile

You need to read this whole Yamaha site. There is tons to learn about these things. You might have an issue with the air filter housing or throttle adjustment. Read the site and do all maint. that you read about here. Maint. is important if you want a good running car!

i just cleaned the carb, haven t put it back together yet because the gasket between the carb and motor didnt look very good.going to replace that then put it back together and see what happens.i did try to re run the throttle cable to the carb, and by-pass the govener.when i seen the throttle cable end was a little different, i put it all back together, but i had issues with the carb before this.
