Re: Removing body skins for paint ?
I'm in the 20 ta 30 minute group, and I"m slow. But I keep track of my fasteners. I'm doing a G22 as we speak. Its in the G8 Club thread, starting about page 444 or so! Very nice car, very refined, your gonna like it!! Good choice!
The front nose fits in a little notch. I built this as an off road car, so I welded a strap on there, so now it bolts on. Much stronger!! Enjoy Mike |

Re: Removing body skins for paint ?
I picked up my G22 Saturday, & couldn't be happier with it.... runs like a dream. I almost wish golf season was over, so I could tackle the new paint job. I better leave that for this winters project... Lol

Re: Removing body skins for paint ?
Mike.........
I have been following your build in the G8 thread........ looks awesome ! I do have a question though... My cart is a G22, like yours, but mine has some black plastic pieces on back piece.... Like a place to set stuff on or something... I will attach a pic.... wondering why yours don't have these, or did you do away with them or something ? Mine looks like they are black plastic riveted on or something...... |

Re: Removing body skins for paint ?
They are fender protectors, they say "No Step" on them. I remove them, makes the car look much more modern with out them. Then fill the holes with plastic epoxy, and body filler before paint.
The center of the rivet pushes out from the bottom to remove. |

Re: Removing body skins for paint ?
Bogie, your gonna like that car! better shape than mine. Mine cleaned up perfact, But if you read G8, you know how I talked about it!! What color ya thinkin?
I take the rubber floor mat out, and use an outdoor door mat for carpet in the car. Done 3 cars this way, much better I think!! My Yellow car's been done for 3 years! Sometime in your resto. pull the clutch cover off, and check the rollers on the clutch. mine were worn, (flat spots,) catch them early, so you don't wear out the bushing in the sheave, and you will enjoy smooth clutch engagement forever!! This green car runs strong from off line to full speed! |
