Default 1977 Harley

All,

Seem to have an issue with the clutches, I assume.

The engine runs good, but the cart is slow. I have jacked up the rear end and the primary clutch closes and the driven clutch expands fully. Under a load and with passengers , the clutches aren’t closing and opening a whole lot. Most of the time, as I’m driving, it acts like it has two gears...if you go down a hill it will open up and roll good...as soon as it slows down, it’s almost like it downshifts and creeps along.

Thanks

Yeah, your clutches are likely failing. I am not too familiar with the pre-1982 carts but do some forum searches as those years are typically repairable.

its possible your engine is worn out or just not producing the RPM with a load to properly open the clutches
