Introduction/G16 Help
Well Ive been kinda reading behind the scenes here for awhile and I just picked up a 2000 yamaha g16. Ran good on test drive like always then got it home and the trouble ensued. So it seems when it warms up it begins running out of fuel and it runs then bogs like it would as if running out of fuel. You can see when this happens very little to no fuel in filter. Since I got it Ive changed the plug with an NGK and replaced all the fuel lines. I pulled the carb off and cleaned. I know its pumping fuel and it seems to be more of an intermittent problem. I dont like the fact that the hose from crankcase to fuel pump is basically sandwiched between airbox and block. Possibly squeezing hose? I noticed the fuel in it looks redish in color. Would a stabilizer cause it to change color? It still smells like gas but its red. Any help??? Thanks

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
To start with, welcome!!
Now there is some kind of pickup in the tank on your car. they crack or some how suck air instead of gas. I'd check that out. Second, dump that medicated gas, clean out the tank, and put real gas in, not any cool aid stuff!! Third, make sure the pulse line is new, and like you say, not pinched!! |

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Blow backwards thru the pulse line back to the crankcase to check for a possible blockage.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Thanks for the input guys...When i first changed the lines I did blow through the pulse hose to make sure it was clear but Im going to by a longer hose so I dont have to run it under the airbox. I will remove the gas tonight and see how that goes. Whats on the pickup in the tank? Is there a filter or screen inside tank?

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Nope, just a pick-up tube. Check the 90* fitting on the top of the tank for a crack. Don't know if the longer pulse line will be a problem. I know from the factory they run them tight and as short as possible.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Try to get a hose that is kind of rigid, so it doesn't collapse with each pulse. Also, the blockage is usually in the fitting in the block not the hose.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
I bought rubber fuel line that you would use in typical automotive applications with same diameter. So im not concerned that its collapsing do to the pulsing but more from being sandwiched between the block and airbox.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
There is plenty of space between the airbox & engine, no need to re-route it.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Well as I started getting more in depth with the cart last night I noticed a large amount of dirt accumulated on the skid plate so I began pulling the cart apart to see what I really had. Unfortunately I didnt notice prior to buying (Luckily I dont have much in it) but the motor was absolutely covered under the plastic cover with mud, dirt, and grass. Ive never seen one this bad. Anybody think the coil getting hot could cause my running issue? Today will be a couple gallons of degreaser and some elbow grease.

Re: Introduction/G16 Help
Yes, a hot coil will cause running issues...Check under the sheet metal around the head.
