Default Head light question

I have a 2006 ezgo txt with the headlights. When I bought it the lights didn't work. I got them to work with the switch but they are super dim. When I disconnect one of them, the one that is still connected is bright. Do you think this could be a grounding issue, or does it sound like something is shorting out?

While you're at it get some LED's... Serious light for a fraction of the draw. Older machine, things rust... Grounding points may be sketchy as was mentioned above.. A little corrosion on a grounding point can make a good ground bad.
