Accessory Battery questions
I want to add an extra 12v battery to my cart to run my accessories. Prefer to get a smaller battery so I can fit it in my bag well and since there are supports under my rear seat mounted in there, my space is limited. I know many of you have done this and I've heard that scooter batteries are a good way to go. But I'm wondering what the best type of small battery would be to get and what kind of run time I can expect if I take care of it properly. Is cruising around a campground (my son) for a couple of hours, running lights and stereo possible, on a daily basis, if kept charged or is that too much to expect from even a dedicated battery? When running, as wired, off my battery 4, the stereo is the first to go and then, by the end of the night, the rear lights are gone and the front one very dim. I know this is putting too much load on my cart battery and the entire pack.

Re: Accessory Battery questions
03 if its at all possible try and go with some sort of marine type deep cycle......i know you be able to use a big one but you,ll get plenty of time out of it.....mine on the boat runs the trolling motor, bilge pump lights and radio and underwater camera all weekend without needing a charge......i think if you go with a little scooter battery you arn,t gonna be happy but i understand your space limitations...............some sort of deep cycle if at all possible.............................

Re: Accessory Battery questions
Thanks Shadow. I'm not married to the bag well idea but I don't want it sitting in the floorboard of the cart and really can't come up with another place to put something like that. I'll take some measurements and see what I'm limited to. But I also would like to know if this is even worth the effort. If I go this route and still don't have the battery life needed to run those accessories for as long as I want, it will be disappointing to say the least.

Re: Accessory Battery questions
well your other option is a good voltage reducer.......for the price of a decent battery you can get a top of the line reducer.......48/12..........i wouldn,t go like a 24/12 or a 16/12 i would distribute thur the entire pack......than no worries about room or another charger....................

Re: Accessory Battery questions
Yep, aware of that. I even bought one a few months back and ended up selling it before even trying it. Too many stories about them burning carts down scared me away from it.
16/12 isn't an option for me anyway because I have a 4x12v system. |

Re: Accessory Battery questions
ah.....ok...........but don,t be afraid of them if you buy a quaility reducer and its installed right you should have 0 issues with it........i have put many in over the years but only when the customer let me buy it...........when i have a customer walk up to me and hand me a reducer that they got the deal of a lifetime from e-bay on i refuse to install them even if they put it in writing that they won,t hold me responsable..............i have lost a few customers over the years because of that but in the end i sleep well at night and have even had some come back after thinking it over and having problems with their e-bay buy..............................
