![]() Hi. Newbie here. just recently bought a toro workman with 16hp vanguard set up like golf carts that stop running when you let off the gas. And it was doing that but just recently started dealing with problems at first pedal wasn't returning all the way after a few weeks. So got a new pedal spring and pb blasted the pedal pivots and worked it for a while and it was better but still wasn't returning all the way to press the button all the way in on the pedal switch. I decided to add my original spring in conjunction for more spring power and adjust my bolts there and all was well back in action a couple weeks and no its back to not wanting to shut off even though it was pressing it in good now. I ordered a new pedal switch for testing purposes cause I figure it was cheap enough. Just got it today and pulled the old out to test continuity function across the poles in comparison with the new one and the old seems to work the same as the new one though I didn't put the new one in to try yet. I was about to but just wondered if there's anything else I should look for that causes this like bad grounding. I dod see like a body ground that looked like it connected near the started generator that wasn't connected when I bought it but i hadn't worried about it because everything was working right. On a separate note I look up this engines model number for parts because after I installed a Vegas carts tach off one of the coils I noticed I was getting some sparking outside of the cylinder on the cylinder I installed the the tach on. So I assume... that its because my coils looks original and are on the way out and not because I didn't listen to them about putting it an inch off the coil lol and just put one of those brass multi spade deal so I could connect my tach signal wire right there at where the kill wire hooks up. But when I look on parts tree or other sites under my engines model number none of them have the magneto coils for sale under my model. Ok to use some from an 18hp right? Engine model 295440-0153-G1 my God tis thing is slow though. I have read alot of gpod stuff on here from slonomo and other so thanks for the good reads and advice. Only 17mph right now. Can't wait to mod it more already tryed to bend my spring tab a lil to bring my rpms up slightly but it didn't seem to work. I'm thinking cause that spring seems pretty worn out and needs replacing. Thanks for reading

![]() If you can identify what model workman you have I may be able to help with a wiring diagram. I am going to assume at the moment that you may have a 2110 model, but a full serial number would help. The pedal switch probably had four terminals and two are activated with the pedal up and two with the pedal down. With pedal up, the switch sends a ground to the ignition to kill the engine if I recall correctly. I think there may be a delay timer on the kill circuit too.

![]() Yeah thats what it is im trying to figure it out now. Swapping a new pedal switch in did nothing it was still the same. Ignition as in directly to the ignition magneto coils or ignition switch? It's an 07273 model number serial 310000173. No need to bungee pedal. With second spring that part was working fine as it fixed my issue before but now that's not it now its not the pedal but the same symptoms bout to look for the connection from the engine to the switch

![]() Glad you found it. It had to be a break in the kill circuit somewhere!
