![]() What is involved with making lights in rear work as brake lights instead of marker lights? And is it a job that can be done by someone who is not an electrical engineer?I have a 99-2000 gas job. Thanks for your time.Paul

![]() Welcome Paul.
You will need to install a switch on your brake pedal and wire it to the lights. Shouldn't be too difficult to do. Here is a switch>> http://www.cartpartsplus.com/brake-s...997f5b0b217b26 |

![]() Wouldn't he need dual contact light sockets to accept a 1157 bulb instead of a 1156? or do all tail lights come with them?

It sounded like Paul wanted brake lights INSTEAD of marker lights. If this is the case, I believe it will work with a single filament bulb. But, I could be wrong. |

![]() Depending on your current rear lites....may be already "1157" bulbs and a 3 wire plug in set up (many are) . The "TheNewGuy" has the best plan.. A "plunger" type micro switch mounted in you brake pedal assy so your foot actuates it. You can install a spring loaded micro switch but you'll need a relay that turns it off (about 15 seconds) or your brake lites would always be on and drain the battery. Not a hard job...just more time consuming and more expensive. Good luck on your project. Dave
