Alltrax error - cart down
Hey all, looking for a little help diagnosing an Alltrax controller error. Got a Yamaha G29, Alltrax XCT-500, 400-amp SD solenoid, HD cables, 6x8v Trojans. Everything's been working great until recently. Cart was running fine, parked it in the garage, went to drive it a week later and nothing, zero power. Cart takes a full charge and the batteries are reporting healthy voltage. After some troubleshooting I found a fuse was blown, a 10-amp on a factory circuit that runs from the solenoid to the tow/run switch. I replaced the fuse and power restored, however the controller is now giving me error codes and the cart won't move. 1 green with 6 red, which equates to "Pre-Charge Failure". I was looking in the manual and it says that the XCT doesn't use a pre-charge resistor, nor do I have one on the solenoid. I do have the diode that came with the kit. The contactor isn’t doing anything, no click, F/R does nothing.
I took some voltage readings to see if they revealed anything: Batteries: 51.6v Contactor Large terminal – battery side: 51.6v Contactor small terminal – battery side: 51.2v (less voltage from the diode?) Contactor Large terminal – controller side: 0v Contactor small terminal – controller side: 51.6v Not sure what to try next, any thoughts or input is welcomed! |

Re: Alltrax error - cart down
Pre-charge failure on an XCT is sort of a code red since it uses no pre-charge resistor and the pre-charge is internal.

Re: Alltrax error - cart down
I did some troubleshooting with Alltrax tech support. We concluded the controller is getting the expected input voltage from the cart's harness which seems to imply everything cart side is ok. I had to pull the controller and send it in for diagnostics and (assuming) warranty repair. So much for using my cart the rest of this month.

Re: Alltrax error - cart down
I had a faulty XCT300. I sent it in and had a new one returned to me in 3 days.

Re: Alltrax error - cart down
^Wow! I hope I get that kind of service. Granted this XCT-500 worked fine for the past 1.5 years, then just like that, total failure. Thank goodness for 2-year warranty!
