Default G9 Resistor on Solenoid?

Just bought a non-running G9e (resistor cart) for a project. It came with a resistor across the large terminals of the solenoid.

If I recall correctly, this resistor is for electronic controllers only and should not be there on a resistor cart? Can someone confirm?

This solenoid resistor gets very hot and it seems obvious why, LOL. I just want to be 100 sure I am not missing something before I remove it.

The resistor is used to precharge the electronic speed controllers...so you would not need one. Just a heads up - they do get hot if the motor is calling for power and the solenoid is not closed.

Turned out to be a lot more than that, solenoid was bad and they also had a jumper wire between the two small terminals.

Replaced solenoid and wired correctly and cart runs really good in spite of its age.
