Break In Period for Rebuilt Engine
Just finished my G9 rebuild (bored 25 over, new piston and rings). Is there a certain break in period before I can turn my governor in a bit?
Thanks! |

Re: Break In Period for Rebuilt Engine
I would look up the manual or specs in the yamaha cart section on the home page. It should mention break in period. It would also depend on the clearances that it was bored to. Usually the clearance is 0.003-0.005mm. The smaller the clearance the more break in period should be.
I would run two tanks of fuel through it, or about 20 hours. That is my guess and I would trust that. It may be a little more or less. Call the yammi dealer. Be sure to change oil after a few hours and clean or change the oil filter. Have Fun. |

Re: Break In Period for Rebuilt Engine
Run it like ya rented it...
Run the engine at different rpm's. Don't keep it at one steady rpm for extended periods. You can adjust the gov. now. If ya run hi r's, do it in short bursts for the 1st hr. or so. Then... Balls Out... |

Re: Break In Period for Rebuilt Engine
I was being conservative, not wanting to be blamed for anything.I really don't worry about break-in on my stuff.
We used to race two cycles after a 10 minute break-in during practice. Practice was the same as the race, you run as fast as you can. |
