Best gear oil for G1

Hi all, if its not 100 degrees tomorrow I want to power wash my 81 G1 engine compartment down and I need to check the rear end gear oil. Can someone let me know what would be a good gear oil for the rear? I have 90wt gear oil but have heard synthetic is much better also can I use what ever anyone suggests for the steering box also. Thanks all.

manual says SAE 90 gear oil for both gear box (.85 qt) and steering (.16 qt)
In my opinion syn oil is overkill but thats just me.It's not that much more $

Calvin,you can download an owners manual from the sticky above,just follow spriddles link and choose 1984 G1.I believe they are all the same from 79-84.
It's full of great info on oil specs,capacities,belt adj,etc

Thank you Newbylee thats good because I already have 90 wt Im not real sure it needs it but as much as I drive it guess I should check them both out. Thank you again for the info and I'll download the info hope you have a good day.

I run synthetic in mine,change it every 2 years,I think its worth it.
