Starter Generator Info??
I noticed that my SG says 23 amps on my Club Car Gas DS 2006
My question is has anyone tried to get more amps out of one? I know the 23 amps is regulated but is there a way to spruce it up? |

Re: Starter Generator Info??
Amps = I
Voltage = E Resistance = R Formula is I=E/R so by increasing the Voltage E or reducing the resistance R so not sure if adding 2 8 volt batteries in series would work by increasing E from 12 volts to 16 volts ??? Cant really see a way to reduce R except shorten cable, increase cable size , and this would be minuscule ? worth a shot on the bench (perhaps) Send it to PQ and have them rewind it for speed |

Re: Starter Generator Info??
no problem
this would be really cool if U could do it , then add a few more accessories and run straight of generator/battery voltage. |

Re: Starter Generator Info??
Ok, I got lost like Ray Charles in the desert!! So help me on this one.
I thought even with a higher amp output from the S/G, the voltage regulator regulates the input to the battery? So even with, say a 50 amp output S/G, wouldn't the regulator still control or meter it? Also I thought most accessories draw from the battery anyway and the gen just resupplies it so if you never draw over the input to the battery which in this case would be 23amps max or what ever is max from the regulator you run no risk of an over draw on the battery. |

But as HP would say "WHAT IF" thinking outside the box U could say exchang 1 battery for 2 and the, regulator kept both charged . Since at 23 amps it is really shutting down and not really charging 50% of the time. So with the additional need for charge the regulator lets voltage pass 80% of the time. If it worked , U now have more voltage, more amps to draw from on the batteries , mor toys . just thinking ??????? Th |
