Default Air filter enclosure on 1985 Gas Club Cart

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and bought a 1985 Club Car last weekend. I know the Carb is gummed up and will clean it and replace air and fuel filters as well as change oil and transmisson fluid.

My question is when I removed the airfilter cover and filter to spray carb cleaner into the carb while tinkering last weekend a rubber O ring was found after I started to replace the old filter, didn't have a new one at the time. The O ring is larger in diameter than the air filter enclosure. Did the 1985 have a rubber O ring that went between the two halves of the air cleaner enclosure? I have a hunch that someone crammed the wrong size in the grove to make it work. I can't find a part for that year but have seen one for a 2004 and up.

Thanks,

Jim

yes there is a rubber seal, if you can munipulate it into the grove than do it, it may have just swelled.

Thabk you both very much. I really appreciate this. I have been going nuts trying to find any information on this. I guess my ring has swollen to about 1 and a quarter the orgional size.

So the rubber O ring goes into the grove where the two parts of the case mate?
