double check even triple check all wiring and if ok than try another VR i know i know but like i said i have seen even new ones that lasted a day if that..............................

Which is the exact wiring diagram and what way should I monitor the regulator wiring harness facing down or up? I think maybe it shorted out when the wires became partially exposed and were bent over against the earth plate on the bottom of the box.

That should have read "mount" the voltage regulator not monitor stupid fat fingers 

it mounts with the gel fill or whatever that goop is facing up.......................

I did guess as much after it died the second time in a puff of smoke. So I had ordered yet another VR. My question though is how do I now secure it inside the power box and the holes no longer line up?
