Default FE290 Motor beafed up

I have been looking at beafing up my 9hp motor because I don't believe I can get the kind of speed I want to get out of it. What I was thinking and I don't know if it has been done before was simply taking the top end off a fe350 and putting it on my fe290. If it is the same size just a larger jug I don't see why it would not work. Anyone try this already? Thanks
