Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
Not to change the subject but what's up with the plywood seat bottom on that drive? Every one I've seen is heavy black plastic?

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
After back order after back order for OEM Yamaha seat bottoms, we had to go with a company called GR. They got us 100 or so seat bottoms in a week Yeh there plywood, but Ezgo and Club Car has been doing it for years, should be fine.

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
Nothing happens to the plastic portion, the seat covers crack/tear on the edges, useually the drivers side and once the the foam gets wet it's toast. I tried 1 seat cover and it wasn't worth the cost and labor involved. Now back to the OP's question, it is doeable and you can inclease run time (on a download machine) from 85 minutes to 105+ minutes

Ok I see I do a lot of yamaha remans and all of the curtains come with matching seat upholstery so the seats get recovered. I prefer the plastic bottom because it will not rot. Just curious when I saw the seat bottom. The 2011 yamaha's can configure with stock battery tray 4x12 or 6x8 or 8x6. I've done them every way possible.

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
I have a 2008 drive with 4 new interstates, I can run it all over town and play 18 holes with no problems. I have never noticed a lack of power.

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
Hi gang. Based on all the info on the forum and great support from ScottyB's store, I was able to finish my 4-12v to 6-8v conversion on my G29 2010. Started the process by installing the voltage reducer which was the cause of my prior batteries short life (inherited from prior owner).
Today I installed the 4 gauge supply cables from ScottyB and 6 brand new US Batteries 8VGCHC XC2 batteries. 183 AH batteries so pretty high capacity. BTW, a Club Car 48v battery hold down and J hoop hold down rods worked great to hold the other 2 batteries in place. Starting the breakin period. Picture, because it DID happen... |

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
Do It! I have done it with no problems. Adding capacity to your pack will extend its useful lifespan, no matter how many miles between charges. The deeper you discharge the pack every time you use it, the shorter their life will be. In other words, if you only draw the battery charge down to "75% full" every time you use it, rather than "60% full", your batteries will last longer (their lifespan in years).

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
I think I fryed one of my 12 volt batteries. one had a dry cell. I will see this Friday night when I get to my camper if it came back. I think they are on they're 6th year, so may be time to convert to the 6x8 volts.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Trojan 8 volt Black box batteries? 160 AH versus the T875 170 AH. Brian, where did you get the battery hold down and rods from? and the US batteries? Thanks |

Re: 2010 G29 convert to 6x8v?
If you are going to upgrade capacity, upgrade capacity. Just get some T-875 or similar. The rxv is now coming with the lower rated trojan DC8V, it sucks, they fail. Dont waste your money on cheapos, thinking your saving money.
